The program spotlights a Bulldog Best character trait each month to create a culture of kindness, respect, & personal responsibility. Character building guidance lessons are taught throughout the year to help students understand, care about, and act upon core ethical values.

Small group guidance sessions created to promote positive friendships, self-esteem, and social skills are available during students’ recess times every week in the library.  Contact me for a permission slip.

Daily messages that encourage our Bulldogs to make positive life choices and to strive to be the best they can be every day are shared through morning announcements.

This BWE bully prevention program encourages our students to Be A HERO, one who Helps, Encourages, and Respects Others. The four following rules are emphasized throughout the year:

1. Never bully others
2. Help anyone who is bullied
3. Be friendly to students who are left out
4. Report bullying.

The Wise Owl Bully Stopper (K-2), Bully Proof Kit (3-4), Kelco’s Choice (K-4), and Why Try? (K-4) are programs utilized to prevent bullying at Birnham Woods. Look for our special bully prevention incentives that will be given to all students each nine weeks this school year!

Support services are available to ensure the success of our students through individual counseling, community connections, response interventions, and consultations. Please contact Mrs. Rowe if you would like your student to have the opportunity to attend individual counseling sessions.

Our Bulldog Buddies Mentor Program, Cross Trainers Academic Partners, Making Miracles Assistance Program, and our Watch D.O.G.S. Program (Dads of Great Students) are offered at various times during the school year to enhance our students’ school experience.

This national program was started to get father figures into schools to provide extra security and support for students.

If you could find a day to volunteer at Birnham Woods this year, you would follow an individualized schedule that would provide you the opportunity to assist in various classrooms, interact with the students at lunch & recess, patrol our campus, and help with arrival & dismissal procedures.
